She has received PMPC Best Actress Star Awards for TV and nominations in International Emmy Best Actress Awards and various local award giving bodies in movies and TV.
Locsin has actively participated in humanitarian causes across the country and is noted for her work with women victims through Gabriela. She has been cited as the Philippines most beautiful Pinay by Starmometer since 2006 and her off-screen relationships are widely reported.
Though Locsin made her movie screen debut as a kidnap victim in the 2000 film Ping Lacson: Supercop, her acting career started in TV through a teen show Click in 1999. She achieved wider fame after being cast as one of the lead stars in the fantasy-themed TV series Mulawin in 2004. She established herself as one of the best-known and most in-demand celebrity after she starred as the super heroine Darna in the TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo comics. Since then, her TV shows including Majika in 2006 and Asian Treasures in 2007 reigned at prime time and enjoyed high ratings.
When her contract with her former TV network, GMA Network, expired in March 2007, Locsin surprised her fans and the entertainment industry when she did not renew her contract. Instead, she signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN.
Her first project under ABS-CBN was the TV series Lobo in 2008, followed by a box office movie under Star Cinema, Love Me Again, in 2009, and starred in the remake of korean telenovela Only You in the same year.
